What you will Learn

Our Beginners Meditation Classes are suitable for complete beginners or people wishing to get back into Meditation. During this course, you will learn about the cause and effect of stress, basic breathing techniques, Meditation for muscle relaxation and guided visualisation Meditation. You will also explore affirmations in Meditation, Zen Meditation and Mindfulness Meditation. By the end of the course, you will feel comfortable and confident about practising Meditation.

On completion you will have a good understanding of the fight or flight reaction, understand your stress responses and be able to disengage from a stress response fairly quickly. You will have chosen a style of meditation you feel suits you best and be regularly practising Meditation in your own time. You should notice a marked improvement in your daily life through the regular practice of Meditation.

RELAXATION

What to expect

A deeply relaxing pre-bedtime session combining progressive muscle relaxation, guided visualisation and heart centred techniques. 

Meditation can help you sleep by:
Relaxing your body and mind
Meditation can help you let go of worries and thoughts from the day, and prepare your body for sleep.
Slowing your heart rate
Meditation can lower your heart rate and encourage slower breathing, which can help you fall asleep. 
Reducing stress
Meditation can help reduce cortisol, the hormone associated with stress. 
Increasing melatonin levels
Meditation can increase your natural melatonin levels, which can help you sleep more restfully. 
Causing theta brainwaves
Meditation can cause theta brainwaves, which is the state your brain enters when you fall asleep.

This course is divided into six, one and a half hour lessons. You will receive comprehensive handouts relating to each weekly topic.

 

  • Practice between sessions is encouraged

  • The course will take place over six sessions.

  • Small personal classes.

  • A certificate of completion will be presented
