How can Reiki help with your Anxiety, Stress and Chronic Illness?

Reiki can help with a range of emotional, physical and mental issues, from stress and anxiety to skin conditions and insomnia

Reiki’s rising popularity can be attributed to the growing interest in natural healing and alternative therapies and it is also becoming more accepted in hospitals as a complement to Western medicine. It’s also a great way to deal with everyday stress.

This holistic practice promotes self-care and is a wonderful way to learn more about ourselves. It is also a system for self-growth, which coincides with the growing interest in well-being,  and personal development. Many people want to rediscover what’s natural and organic when it comes to healing their ailments, and Reiki aligns with that naturalistic philosophy. It is even said that Reiki can help you to look younger, with a rise in popularity of Reiki facials.

Reiki is an alternative therapy, it was rediscovered by Mikao Usui, a Buddhist monk, who founded the natural system of hands-on healing in the 1920s, utilising the power of healing through gentle touch. 

A lot of the physical discomforts we feel can be attributed to energy blockages in our body. These blockages affect our physical, mental and emotional states. Many people seek treatment to help them deal with anxiety, grief, depression, trauma, chronic illness, mental fatigue and other physical and emotional problems. Reiki aims to bring the body back into balance by channelling ‘healing’ energy. This energy is believed to activate the body to heal itself.

Reiki works to rebalance the energy field of the body. Some people can feel the energy, in the form of warmth or heat moving through their body. Some feel tingles or see  colours, some may shake or even start crying showing the release of emotional energy. Most people come out of a reiki session feeling more relaxed, refreshed and inspired, often saying they feel lighter, as though a weight has been lifted from their shoulders. This weight is the energetic and emotional waste that, up till that point, had yet to be cleared from their body. 

Reiki aims to balance the internal systems and when balanced the immune system functions better, it aids digestion and breathing, and the nervous system becomes calmer helping you to combat your everyday stress and anxiety. When we become less stressed and anxious our mood and thought patterns start to change and our outlook on life can become much lighter and brighter, enabling us to live the happy fulfilled life we have always wanted.
